Keep This Indian Life one tap away.
This site can be installed as an app — a clean, full-screen version with no browser clutter, that also keeps the pages you've visited readable offline. It's the same site, just nicer to live with. Nothing to download from a store, and no notifications.
The quick way
If your browser supports one-click install, the button below will appear. If it doesn't show up, your browser just does it a little differently — the per-device steps further down cover every case.
On Android (Chrome)
- Tap the ⋮ menu in the top-right of Chrome.
- Choose Add to Home screen (sometimes shown as Install app).
- Confirm, and the icon lands on your home screen like any other app.
On iPhone & iPad (Safari)
- Tap the Share button (the square with an upward arrow) at the bottom of Safari.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add in the top-right. Done.
iPhones only allow this from Safari, not Chrome or other browsers.
On a computer (Chrome, Edge, Brave)
- Look for the small install icon on the right edge of the address bar (a monitor with a downward arrow).
- Click it, then click Install.
- The site opens in its own window and shows up alongside your other apps.
No install icon? Open the browser menu and look for Install This Indian Life…. Firefox and Safari on desktop don't support installing web apps.
Why bother
Honestly? You don't have to. The website works perfectly in a normal tab and always will. Installing just gives you a faster, full-screen, distraction-free version that survives a patchy connection — handy if you read on the move. That's the whole pitch.
